'05 Mercury Mountaineer

With at least three separate makes in terms of style and configuration, not to mention different balances of comfort, luxury and performance, the 2005 Mercury Mountaineer is a stunning reinterpretation of the Explorer originally manufactured by the Ford Motor Company. The three main trim levels available for the 2005 Mountaineer are Premier, Convenience and Luxury.

Undoubtedly the best engine that the 2005 Mercury Mountaineer offers is the V8, even though an optional V6 engine is available. The V8 engine has a capacity of 4.6 liters and is capable of commendable 239 horsepower and 282lb-ft of torque – quite commendable for a midsized SUV.

One of the aspects that have brought the 2005 Mountaineer much praise and acclaim is its excellent stability. The anti-skid mechanism is now complemented by a Roll Stability Control System. This ensemble, dubbed the “AdvanceTrac” antiskid mechanism, minimizes the chance for the vehicle to topple. Add to this an ABS and multiple airbags, and you have one of the safest SUVs in the market.
